The famed fruit of the evergreen Quandong tree is also known as wild or desert peaches, as it originates in the arid and semi-arid regions of Australia. These vibrant red fruit are celebrated for their distinct shape and nuanced flavour of sweet and sour peaches. Use Quandong to infuse a distinctly Australian flavour in both sweet and savoury dishes, wherever conventional peaches are used. When rehydrated, the fruit swells to roughly 4 x the weight. Simply soak in water or orange juice for 1-2 hours, before adding to your favourite dish. Sweeten to taste if needed.

  • Baking and Cooking: Quandongs can be used in various baked goods, like pies, tarts, and muffins. Simply slice or chop them and incorporate them into your recipes.

    Jams and Relishes: Make Quandong jam or relishes by cooking the fruit with sugar and pectin. Spread on bread, use as a spread on a cheese platter, or serve alongside meats.

    Compote: Cook Quandong with a bit of sugar and water to make a compote. Serve it over pancakes, waffles, or as a topping for desserts.

    Grilled Quandong Salad: Simply grill some Quandongs and pair with mixed greens, goat cheese or feta, some chopped nuts, olive oil, and our Balsamic dressing.

    Quandong and Prosciutto Crostini: Toast baguette slices, and spread ricotta, topped with sliced Quandongs and prosciutto. Drizzle with honey for some extra indulgence for a delightfully sweet and salty snack.

    Rehydration: Place the dried quandongs in a bowl and cover them with warm water (or orange juice for extra flavour). Allow them to soak for about 1 to 2 hours. Once plump and rehydrated, drain the water and consume within 1-2 days.
