  • Baking and Cooking: Native Currants can be used in various baked goods, like pies, tarts, scones and muffins. Simply remove the seed and incorporate them into your recipes- be sure to sweeten to taste!

Native Currant Jam: Make Native Currant jam or preserves by cooking currants with sugar and pectin.

Native Currant and Fetta Salad: Toss salad greens with Native Currants, fetta cheese, and candied nuts. Drizzle with olive oil and our balsamic dressing just before serving.

Native Currant Marinade or Glaze: Combine the currants, red wine, sugar, and water. Simmer over medium heat until the currants break down and the sauce thickens- use cornstarch if needed.

  • Rinse before use. Thaw frozen fruit in the refrigerator and consume within 3-4 days.

The fruit can be used sliced fresh, juiced, pickled, or cooked. Remove small seed before use.

In sweet applications, use sugar to draw out the natural flavours.

  • Potential Antioxidant Activity: Some native Australian plants have been found to contain compounds with antioxidant properties. Antioxidants can help protect cells from oxidative damage caused by free radicals. While there is limited research on the specific antioxidant compounds in Native Currants, it's possible that it contains substances with antioxidant activity.

Immune System Support: Traditional uses of the plant suggest that it may have been used to support the immune system. This could be due to its potential antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which may contribute to immune system health.
